Welcome To The New And Improved LushAngeles.com
Holy site redesign, Batman!
One of the things that's been keeping me busy lately is a full site re-design for lushangeles.com, not only to scrap the old dark theme, but to also make it more useable. This extends not only for me as a writer and curator of content, but you as the consumer of the content. I've been pretty active on Twitter and that's all well and good, but at the end of the day, @LushAngeles works best when there's an archival site behind it. And it's all well and good for Twitter to act as a snapshot, especially mid-drink, but I wanted something a bit more three-dimensional.
My buddy Matt Brown jokes that I have hundreds of food sites, but with this re-write, lushangeles.com becomes the only one I've ever built from the ground-up. No Wordpress, no Drupal, nothing, only using a Rails framework and a database. It really wasn't until the past few months that I became technically savvy enough to really build the platform I've always wanted, as opposed to kluging something together out of existing parts.
What I hope is a greater integration of all the things I like sharing on Facebook and Twitter, namely links and stories, but also for the site to act as a point fo reference. I'm happy with the new lushangeles platform, and while I'm busy porting over some of the old content, I'll also begin porting over some other sites I have to it as well.
Anyway, cheers, you guys, and hit me up on Twitter or whatever and let me know what you think of the new site. In the mean time, it's a hot day in LA right now. This calls for a margarita.
